279 m passengers after eleven months of 2017


Number of passengers taking advantage of rail offers is growing. By the end of November 2017 more than 279 m passengers traveled by rail in Poland (95% of the total number of passengers from 2016).

Comparing to the same period of 2016 the number of passengers who traveled from January to November in 2017 increased by 3.8%, transport performance by 6.3% and operating performance by 1.5%.

The values of three main characteristics of the railway market results are: 279 m passengers, 18.8 bn passenger-km and 148.7 m train-km.

While comparing November 2017 to November 2016 the number of passengers increased by 1.1% to the level of 24.9 m passengers, transport performance by 1.3% to the level of 1.6 bn pass-km and operational performance by 1.5% to the level of 13.1 m km.

It is worth mentioning that in the September-November period the increase of transport performance was due to the growth of number of passengers rather than the distance that they traveled.
