Passenger transport in May 2019

27.7 million passengers travelled by rail in May 2019. This is 3.7% more than last year. Taking into account the first five months, nearly 134 million passengers benefited from the services of the railways. This means an increase of 8.9 million passengers (7.2%) compared to the same period last year.

In May, transport performance  amounted to more than 1.8 billion passenger-kilometres (an increase of 2.2% compared to May 2018) and operational operations to 14 million train-kilometres (an increase of 4.5% compared to May 2018). Between January and May, transport operations were more than 8.4 billion passenger-kilometres and increased by 409 million passenger-kilometres (5.1%) and operation performance by more than 69 million train-kilometres and 1.4 million train-kilometres (2.1%). The average travel distance per passenger was 66 km in May and was 1 km shorter.
