New annual train timetable from 10 December 2023
The new 2023/2024 train timetable will come into force at midnight 9/10 December 2023. In most European countries the timetable changes once a year, on the second weekend of December on Saturday night. The obligation to publish the new train timetables in advance rests mainly on operators of rail infrastructure facilities, i.a. station and platform managers.

New report on rail freight and alternative modes of transport in Europe
In Poland the share of rail freight was 22% in 2021, which ranks 14th out of 27 European countries. The remainder of freight is handled by road vehicles (78%). Rail transport share is the biggest in Lithuania (62.5% share) and the smallest in Ireland (0.6%). The Office of Rail Transport published a new report, which shows rail freight services in comparison with alternative modes of land transport in Europe.

Rail transport in October 2023
More than 34.5 m people travelled by rail in October 2023. This is an increase by 5.3% compared to the previous year and a record value in the monthly statistics published by the Office of Rail Transport since 2012. In rail freight, the transport performance exceeded 5.5 bn tonne-km, a value 0.6% higher than in October 2022. The weight of goods transported by rail operators - 21 m tonnes - is the second highest monthly result since the beginning of this year.
