Passenger operators had an increase by 2.8% in employment. 24,138 employees is the highest number of people employed in this sector in the last decade. PKP Intercity increased its employment by 2.6% (the largest rise in the number of employees among carriers). The only company to see a decrease in employment was PKP SKM in the Tri-City (by 7.5%).
The number of people working for rail freight carriers rose in 2022. At the end of the year, all companies had a total of 27,475 employees, 2.3% more than in 2021. The largest employer, PKP Cargo, recorded a reduction by 3.1% in employment for another consecutive year. Lower numbers of employees were also recorded by other large companies such as PUK Kolprem and CTL Group. At other carriers the number of employees increased.
In the infrastructure managers, the number of employees in 2022 was 38,885, which is a decrease by 1.5% compared to 2021. At the end of 2022, PKP PLK employed 1.4% less than in 2021. However, the drop in the number of employees was recorded by most infrastructure managers. Only PKP LHS, PKP SKM in Tri-City and Euroterminal Sławków had an increase in employment.
