In 2022 seventy years passed since the establishment of the Railway Research Institute in Warsaw. Created as the Railway Scientific and Research Institute, it was transformed in 1958 into the Central Railway Research and Development Centre and then in 1987 into the Railway Scientific and Technical Centre. The last change to the Railway Research Institute took place in 2010 and, like the previous ones, was prompted by legal regulations.
The Railway Research Institute has a 7.7-kilometre-long test track on which locos can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. The track is located 40 km from Wrocław and 5 km from Żmigród.
During today's conference, the achievements of the Institute will be presented as well as the latest research in rail infrastructure and rolling stock.
