In July 2017 25 m passengers were transported by rail, less than in July 2016 when the results were greatly impacted by World Youth Day organized at that time in Poland. The difference between those two results is only 210 k passengers, by 0.8% less than the year before. On the other hand, the interest of passengers for long distance trips by rail is still growing – the transport performance in July 2017 increased by 2.9% as well as the average distance (81 km in July 2017 compared to 78 km in July 2016).
During the first seven months of this year 179 m passengers travelled by rail realizing the transport passengers resulting in the transport performance of 11.9 bn passenger-kilometers (4% and 8% increase respectively) proving that modernizations of railway infrastructure have not yet impacted the growing trend.
